Alan Post
Alan Post's paintings have an inescapable Mediterranean softness and warmth. He continues to evoke an expressionistic mood and uncovers a distinctive glow of his personality.
Searching for the various basics of the human experience, Alan, with a wry but serious smile, continues to reflect elements of spontaneity and playfulness. He pays tribute to a number of Post Impressionists such as Bonnard and Cezanne and clearly demonstrates his ability to draw from his poignant memories of 20th century European artists when he lived for extended times in Spain.
Alan Post is truly a powerful and prolific painter whose current landscape, figurative and still-life paintings focus on everyday objects and subjects of a seemingly simple nature. He uses his artistic perspective, without compromise in ways that speak to us, the viewer. During his extensive travels, Alan studied the everyday life and environment of the people and culture of Europe. Along with a distinguished career as the Legislative Analyst for the State of California for 27 years, serving under 4 Governors, and an over 65 year marriage and artistic collaboration with his wife, sculptor Helen Post, they bring their experiences and observations of a life well lived to all of their artwork.
